Hawthorne Brook Middle School offers the following performing arts opportunities:
Hawthorne Brook Middle School offers several opportunities for singing in grades 5-8. Ensembles include Grade 5 Chorus, Concert Choir (grades 6-8), and Select Choir. Choral students have also auditioned and been accepted to MA All-State Treble Chorus and Central District Festival Chorus. In June 2017, the Concert Choir will attend a performance of Wicked in Boston. HBMS students have also sung at various opportunities throughout the community including sporting events, art gallery openings, and senior centers.
HBMS Drama's entry to the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) Middle School Festival is 15 Reasons Not To Be in a Play! Rehearsals are underway, with the HBMS performance on April 27th @ 7pm, and the Festival performance on April 29th. Tickets will be on sale after April break, see Drama Club link at right.
Middle School Band
Hawthorne Brook Middle School offers band to students in grades 5-8. Ensembles include Grade 5 Band, Concert Band (grades 6-8), Jazz Band, and Wind Ensemble. The band program is thriving with 75 students in Grade 5 Band and 130 students in Concert Band. Over the past several years our bands have participated in the MICCA festival and have been awarded Gold and Silver ratings. We also have several students audition and get accepted into the Central Districts festival ensembles every year. The concert band has performed in many locations such as Mystic Seaport, Easton's Beach in Rhode Island, and aboard the Mount Washington on Lake Winnipesaukee.
